So I may have stopped in the middle of route 207 in southern Ohio to admire the weeds. I couldn't help it really. It was so wonderful so see such a random explosion of color stretching across the distance of nearly every farm along the route. I get this same weed in my yard. Google says its purple deadnettle or henbit. It has an earthy smell that isn't the least bit floral even though there are tiny pink and purple blooms on top. I designed this painting as an idea for the State Fair mural competition. The theme was "Ohio." I ended up going with a different, more commercial design and landed first place, although of the two designs I created
