John Singer Sargeant painted a fountain. I want to paint a fountain. I’ve loved fountains since I was a little kid. Remember shopping malls? In the 70s, shopping malls had fancy fountains in the hallways. They were so pretty, made a pleasing sound and even smelled good. People used to toss coins into them, and as a kid it was hard to understand why I couldn’t just scoop some up to buy some bubblegum. I grew up in Lancaster, Ohio, where this fountain is. When I was little, it was minty green, but nowadays it’s painted bronze. As a little girl I thought it was hilarious that there were naked baby boys peeing into the water. I guess we see what
